MedPharmPlast Europe
Kick-off Meeting Brussels, 11 February 2014
On the 28th of January 2014, MedPharmPlast Europe held its inaugural meeting in Brussels with the founding members of this new EuPC sector group.
The companies participating in this kick-off meeting agreed on the importance and need for an EU level sector group specialised in plastics for medical devices and packaging, in order to address the many challenges faced by the industry.
MedPharmPlast Europe will focus its activities on the following issues:
Legislation affecting plastics in medical devices and packaging
Participation in the Medical Devices Expert Group of the European Commission (MDEG)
Coordinating industry actions at EU level based upon the knowledge of the MedPharmPlast Europe members on plastics for medical devices and packaging
Setting up an advocacy plan in the European Union to defend the interest of the sector group membership
EU projects on research and innovation for plastics in medical devices and packaging
Discussion forums (workshops) on innovative topics
Market intelligence
In the meeting, Mr Thierry Eyrard (Fresenius Medical Care-SMAD General Manager) was appointed as the Chairman of MedPharmPlast Europe for the next two years. Mr Eyrard noted: “We started with the development of MedPharmPlast Europe three years ago and we are now working together in order to face the important challenges. We are speaking now with one voice as an industry. We will work in the coming months to analyse problems and propose solutions, setting up a realistic roadmap to solve them. For that we would like to count on as many companies from the plastics value chain as possible in order to be stronger, joining forces to benefit the plastics medical devices and packaging industry”.
EuPC calls all the interested parties in the Medical Devices and Packaging industries to join MedPharmPlast Europe in order to create a strong group which can work together to defend the interests of the industry.
